The Orcelle Horizon consortium gathered in Oslo on 10–11 June for its annual General Assembly as the project enters a new phase, moving from development to real-world demonstration.
A central focus of the meeting was the upcoming installation of the first full-scale wing sail system onboard Tirranna.
The retrofit will serve as the project’s main demonstrator, enabling validation of performance, control systems, and operational strategies under real operating conditions.
In work package updates, partners confirmed strong progress across the project. Work packages 2 and 3, covering system design tools and wing systems optimisation, have now been completed, while work package 4 on business models & logistics is approaching its final stage. Scaling and impact studies, the focus of work package 6, have also shown substantial progress and are inching towards completion.
This signals that the core technical groundwork is largely in place, and that the project is now moving into its most critical phase.
With key development work completed and the Tirranna installation approaching, Orcelle Horizon is moving from theory to proof, with results soon to be tested at sea.
